The Bloom Project, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides fresh floral bouquets to hospice and palliative care patients, has received a $5,000 grant from the Vital Life, a Marquis and Consonus Foundation. The grant supports the organization as it donates bouquets to hospice and palliative care patients in their homes and care facilities.
“With generous gifts from organizations like the Vital Life Foundation, The Bloom Project enhances the end-of-life care received by hospice and palliative care patients,” said The Bloom Project founder and president Heidi Berkman. “We are excited to invest this money towards the continuation of our mission while sharing the power of flowers throughout the Portland-metro area.”
The Bloom Project receives all of its flowers from donations provided by wholesale floral companies, growers and local grocery stores. The flowers are repurposed by volunteers into beautiful bouquets ready to deliver to local hospice and palliative care patients. All funds donated to The Bloom Project, like those from the Vital Life Foundation, cover operational and program costs.
